James Oaksun (he/him) is Broker-Owner of New Realty Concepts, a boutique real estate brokerage in Fort Lauderdale.
Originally from Buffalo, New York, Oaksun lived for many years in New England. His first career was with Unum Group in Portland, Maine, where he held a variety of positions in the actuarial, corporate finance, and corporate communications organizations. He relocated to South Florida in 2013.
Through his work as an active board member of the Dolphin Democrats, Oaksun hoped to enhance and improve the position of Democrats in Broward County, Florida, and the state, to prevent the Democratic Party from falling into permanent minority status in Florida. It is a time of great challenge, but also opportunity. Currently, he is a precinct captain for his home precinct and is a member of the Broward County Democratic Executive Committtee.
He is a cum laude graduate of Dartmouth College and has an MBA from Cornell University.
Additionally, Oaksun is a prolific writer. For many years, he had a biweekly real estate column in South Florida Gay News and has had political op-ed pieces printed in the South Florida Sun-Sentinel and other publications. Recently, Oaksun wrote a book, Next Acts, which was the #1 new release in the “Social Policy” category on Amazon.
A former “Jeopardy!” champion, and a former national treasurer of the Libertarian Party, Oaksun lives in Lighthouse Point, Florida.
